Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence based trauma focused treatment modality and serves as an effective and efficient tool to help individuals process painful traumatic memories and distressing life experiences, in order to bring healing to their internal system and find freedom.

Trauma can leave deep scars on our minds and hearts, affecting our emotional well-being and daily lives. For many individuals, finding effective ways to heal from trauma is a journey that requires support and guidance. In recent years, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy has emerged as a powerful tool in trauma treatment.

When integrated with Christian principles, EMDR therapy offers a unique approach to healing. It addresses not just the psychological aspects of trauma but also the spiritual and emotional dimensions.

EMDR has been proven to be one of the most effective modalities for trauma related disorders. To learn more, go to http://www.emdria.org/.

Mary Beth Rimmer, LPCMH, NCC

I graduated in 1995 with a Masters in Counseling from Regent University and became a Delaware licensed clinician in 1999.

I have worked in the mental health field for 20+ years, both in school and private practice settings. I approach each client with openness, curiosity, and compassion, seeking to provide a felt sense of safety and support, so clients can share the full truth of his/her story and what it has meant in his/her life, inviting clients to explore painful emotions and experiences, while gently leading them through the healing process.

I specialize in trauma focused therapy approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, while also integrating other evidence based modalities to help provide the best treatment for my clients, such as Internal Family Systems, CBT, and Attachment Focused Therapy.  I work with teens (13 years old +) and adults and specialize in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Eating Disorders, Betrayal Trauma, Depression and anxiety related disorders. I also enjoy working with couples to help promote healthier relationships using evidence based modalities such as EFT and family systems.
